WHY MEDITATE?

Have you heard that Meditation is good for you? Yes, is good for everyone but why? Today, meditation is a very common topic of study in many important research centers like Harvard University or the MIT, and the scientific community is giving us more and more reasons to develop a regular practice.

Here, I’m trying to make a little summary of the benefits of this practice in the physical, mental and emotional fields.

PHYSICAL BENEFITS

  • Decreases blood pressure and hypertension

  • Lower cholesterol levels

  • More efficient oxygen use by the body

  • Increases production of the anti-aging hormone DHEA

  • Decreases tension-related pain, such as tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems

  • Enhances the immune system and Increases energy levels

MENTAL BENEFITS

  • Increases mental strength and focus

  • Increases memory retention and recall

  • Better decision making and problem solving

  • Better cognitive skills and creative thinking

  • Helps manage ADHD

EMOTIONAL BENEFITS

  • Improves emotional stability

  • Enhances self-esteem and self-acceptance

  • Lessens worry, anxiety and impulsivity

  • Lessens stress, fear and depression

  • Improves resilience against pain and adversity

  • Increases optimism, relaxation and awareness

  • Improves mood and emotional intelligence
